The central streets of Dnepropetrovsk were renamed during the Soviet time in honour of the outstanding revolutionaries. (And it is interesting, the largest of them are named in honour of German figures.) So the central street of the city has the name of Karl Marks (where we have most of our Dnepropetrovsk apartments for rent). It is a very beautiful, wide and long parkway, which stretches east to west through the central part of Dnepropetrovsk. It has been developing since XVIII century and parts of its buildings are the real decorations of the city. In the nucleus of the city is Zhovtneva square with the majestic Cathedral that was founded by order of Katherine II (Russian empress) in 1787.

There are some remarkable buildings on the square: the Museum of History, Diorama "Battle for the Dnepr (Dnipro in Ukrainian) River (Second World War)", and also a beautiful park where you can rest in the hot summer. Walking down the hill to the Dnepr River, you will get to the large Taras Shevchenko Park (which is on the right bank of the river) and on Monastyrskiy Island. This island is one of the most interesting places in the city. In the IX century, the Byzantian monks based a monastery here. It was destroyed by the Mongol-Tatars in the XIII century.

Unfortunately "old town" does not exist in Dnipropetrovsk anymore. Many historic buildings and churches were destroyed in the World War II and in Stalin's communist times in the 1930s. However some street-blocks on the main hill (the Nagornaya part) between Pushkina Avenue & Embankment, and sections near Globy and Shevchenko parks have been untouched for 150 years. An evening walk through those parts of the city will bring you a lot of joy. Most of our apartments located in those old districts and close to the Dnepr River - a wonderful creation of nature that keeps the climate mild and the air fresh. You can enjoy the river view from many of our apartments. And from any hill (there are 7 in the city) you will find a beautiful view of the Dnipro river, islands, parks, outskirts, riverbanks and hills.

Karl Marks Avenue is the main trade artery of the city. There are plenty of shops and cafes of different sizes and for different budgets. The abundance of trade points can be observed also on several streets and squares contiguous to the avenue at the area around the Central Department Store - the biggest market place in the Dnepropetrovsk. Exhibition place on the boulevard across from the Department Store is the best place to shop for souvenirs.  Large supermarkets are located far from the central part of the city; mostly in residential areas.

Globy Central Park, Shevchenka Park, Embankments, river beaches and islands are the favourite holiday places of most of the townspeople. During summer you can have a cup of coffee at of of the hundreds of open cafes located along the wide Dnepr River (1 km. width approx.), on main streets and central parks.
